Manjaro 0.8.2 LXDE Edition released
The culmination of substantial refinements and exciting new developments, Manjaro 0.8.2 is the most polished, feature-rich, and accessible release yet.
A lot of people asked me for a LXDE edition. Here it is. It has the same look and functionality as our XFCE edition.
With this release you get a better EFI-support thru rEFInd, includes support for Steam gaming, automatic desktop notifications for new system updates, and – developed exclusively for Manjaro – a user-friendly graphical interface to easily manage and maintain the system.
Experienced users can also take advantage of support for new features, including the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI), B-Tree File System (btrfs), and Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) storage system.
A more detailed overview of the improvements in the 0.8.2 release is as follows:
- The default kernel series has been changed to 3.4-longterm for better upstream support
- LXDE got updated to 0.5.5
- Gnome Package Kit has been replaced with the Kalu upgrade notifier, and – exclusively for Manjaro – a user-friendly interface for pacman (the pacman-gui)
- Comes with an installation guide for beginners
- The CLI installer has been enhanced with additional language support, optional network configuration, hard disk encryption, and several bug fixes
- A 'Testing Installer' option has been added with support for new advanced features including btrfs, nilfs, luks, lvn, gpt, efi, and software-raid
- Plymouth – and its related bugs – have been removed
- Numerous bug fixes have been made, including the Resume/hibernate bugs affecting laptops

Fantastic work Philip! LXDE is my DM of choice.
You all truly deserve the recognition you’re being given!
And again, thanks for your revised german translation on QTGZ
No problem my friend. I do what I can do … If you have some improvements for LXDE let me know.
manjaro is a great distribution, but I have a few questions for the team manjaro. whether manjaro 100% compatible with arch linux? namun kenapa tidak bergabung dengan arch linux repository ? :}
Manjaro Linux uses Snapshots of Archlinux. Those might be one month old or older. We compile or packages against that snapshot. Then we move that mix to our stable repositories. So at that time we are at the same status as Archlinux is.
Archlinux updates their packages almost daily. So it might happen that some packages have different names or newer versions. AUR is a community repository keeping up with Archlinux. Sometimes we are so slow that AUR-Packages might not work correctly with our Distribution.
In our testing repositories we have newer packages we hadn’t time to test fully. Those we move almost weekly to our stable repositories.
In our unstable repositories we have the latest Archlinux packages, synced almost daily. So Archlinux is tagged as unstable at Manjaro. You might have the same issues as you would face with Archlinux-Stable at that time.
Currently issue is gtk3.6 and our themes. That’s why we have older packages in our stable or testing repositories until we solve that issue.
So it is your choice how bleeding-edge you want Manjaro to be for you. I’m personally at Manjaro-Unstable since I’ve to fix issues as Developer for you guys. If you’re brave enough you can try it.
Thank you for your answer, now I know. So in essence the same repository manjaro with arch linux, but more likely by the first team manjaro that the package is ready to be used by manjaro users. Ok, I will try it :}. Sorry if my english is not good.
