Manjaro 0.8.2rc1 (Xfce, Net) online
If all goes as planned, we will release Manjaro 0.8.2 on the 10th of November. To find any regressions in our current testbuild I'm releasing 0.8-r1029 as Manjaro 0.8.2rc1 so we can fix bugs before 0.8.2 will hit our servers.
This release is mainly for developer and testers, not recommend for end-users!
Manjaro 0.8.2pre2 introduced EFI, GUID Partition Table, btrfs and nilfs2 support. Our x86_64 editions have EFI boot support thru gummiboot. With this release we are only shipping our XFCE and Net edition since most of all changes happend there. For all other editions please download our previous testbuild and use pacman to update your systems.
Since we rewrote our CLI installer and many people had issues with it, we are offering now two installers. The stable one is known to work best and with the testing installer you have all new features. We also started to translate both installers to turkish. Thx flies out to our translation team.
Also new in this release is the re-usage of linux34-series as our default kernel. We still ship Kernel 3.6-series optional.
Test those images and report back any bugs or regressions you might find. You can download 0.8.2rc1 from here. Latest Network Edition can be found here. Please check your download with our provided check-sum-files (open them with any editor). It is good to read our installation tutorial.
To get the latest version of our installation framework use:
sudo update-setup
Changes in 0.8-r1029 (0.8.2rc1)
- XFCE: fix some resume/hibernate bugs on laptops
- syslinux: update menus

- MHWD-DB: update virtualbox config
- XFCE: make kalu autostart

Hi,
I tried MJ 0.8.2 RC1 XFCE and I have found 3 potential bugs:
1) LibreOffice is in German, not in English
2) My printer, Canon Pixma MP492, won’t work with CUPS, but it works great with Ubuntu. It’s a USB printer, probably some issue with usblp?
3) If I select ‘italian’ in the SysLinux-BootMenu, and then I chose ‘Avvia Manjaro’ (= ‘Boot Manjaro’), the system boot in text mode, NOT in live mode
.
Thanks guys, your work is exceptional!
1) I already fixed that bug. You can try it yourself. Before you start libreoffice open a terminal and do:
Then missing language packages should get installed. Affected languages are American English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.
2) maybe. Don’t have any printer to confirm this.
3) Somehow normal boot and terminal boot got switched. Fixed in git already. Use ‘Avvia in modalita’ testuale’ to boot into XFCE directly.
Thanks!
grub.cfg creation in stable installer is fixed in git. Use
before you start the installation process.
“sudo update-setup” in terminal gives me “sudo: update-setup: command not found”. Whats up?
This command only works on the live-cd.
Hi, thanks for Manjaro, this excellent ArcLinux based distribution. Please can you give a solution in 0.8.2 to the problem with the HP printers, related to Python 3, it is impossible to make them work. Thank you.
I need more information about your problem with HP printers and Python3. Do you have some forum posts or bug-reports for me?
Hi, thanks for your reply.
The printer is HP LaserJet Professional 1102W

There is also a glitch to HPLIP software that it needs python 2 to run. Most newer systems use python 3. Changing the symlink to point to python 2 should fix the error, but not for me. Also HP printers do not support Arch Linux.

Thanks.
