Manjaro 0.8.2pre4 (XFCE) online
If all goes as planned, we will release Manjaro 0.8.2 on the 10th of November. To find any regressions in our current testbuild I'm releasing 0.8-r1023 as Manjaro 0.8.2pre4 so we can fix stuff before 0.8.2 will hit our servers.
This release is mainly for developer and testers, not recommended for end-users.
Manjaro 0.8.2pre2 introduced EFI, GUID Partition Table, btrfs and nilfs2 support. Our x86_64 editions have EFI boot support thru gummiboot. With this release we are only shipping our XFCE edition since we did there most of all changes. For all other editions please download our previous testbuild and use pacman to update your systems.
Since we rewrote our CLI installer and many people had issues with it we are offering now two installers. The stable one is known to work best and with the testing installer you have all new features. We also started to translate both installers to turkish. Thx flies out to our translation team.
Also new in this release is the re-usage of linux34-series as our default kernel. We still ship Kernel 3.5.7 and 3.6.3 optional. linux35-series will be dropped soon, so update to linux36-series or use our default kernel.
Test those images and report back any bugs or regressions you might find. You can download 0.8.2pre4 from here. Latest Network Edition can be found here. Please check your download with our provided check-sum-files (open them with any editor).
To get the latest version of our installation framework use:
sudo update-setup
Changes in 0.8-r1023 (0.8.2pre4)
- Installer: move config-network to wrapper
- Installer: make it easier to translate
- Kernel: linux34 is again our default kernel
- MHWD-DB: fix virtualbox config
- MHWD-DB: update optimus config
- XFCE: add pkgbrowser, kalu
- XFCE: add catfish search to thunar

No problem at all as regards installation on my advanced desktop with both installers. Please, control the menu “Accessories”: Calculator, not Galculator!
Many thanks.

The program calls it self Galculator. It is not a miss spelling
Hello. I can’t wait till next release so I want to install pre release on my PC. I have one question: Will it update to 0.8.2 when it comes out?
P.S. Thank you very much for Manjaro Linux.
We are a rolling release. A pre-release of Manjaro might have small issues we didn’t find yet during building it. It doesn’t matter which Manjaro install-media you used to install Manjaro. Keeping your system updated we are using kalu now. Having found a small bug I had to recreate 0.8.2pre4 on my home-PC. I missed to add kalu to our autostart menu. This is already fixed for our next build. If you type
time to time into a terminal or use kalu you always stay at our latest release. We expect our next stable install media on the 10th of November. But you can try to find bugs with this release. In the end you’ll always land on 0.8.2.
This is a rolling release distribution. Of course it will update to the new packages, which will be shipped with 0.8.2
However I would suggest you to wait for 0.8.2. We have fixed some nasty bugs in it
Edit: Oh, phil was faster xD
